Chrysler Engineer Honored with BEYA Visionary Award

BEYA STEM ConferenceChrysler Group has been fortunate to receive a number of awards in 2014 already, and it is always an honor to see hard work and diligence on a new vehicle recognized. It is a distinct honor, however, to see Chrysler’s talented employees recognized for outstanding contribution to their field.

Last week, Kevin Ward, Chrysler Group’s Head of Fastener Engineering, was awarded the 2014 Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA) Visionary Award by U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine. The ceremony was scheduled as part of the 28th BEYA Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Global Competitiveness Conference and Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Jaison Busby and Marcus Washington, two other Chrysler Group employees, were also honored at the event as Modern Day Technology Leaders.

In response to the honor, Kevin Ward spoke highly of “strong Africa-American leaders” who both opened doors for him professionally and served as role models. He has similarly served as a leader and role model, working with young engineers at Chrysler and mentoring young people as a youth minister.

“I know that it is both my responsibility and privilege to lead and inspire the next generation,” he said. “I am very appreciative of this recognition of my career accomplishments.”
