Chrysler Group LLC has made the list of “25 Most Noteworthy Companies for Diversity” in the pages of Diversity Inc magazine. This is the annual list the magazine’s editors compiled of companies they believe are diversity-management leaders.

The selection process begins with an annual survey administered in 2013. This year’s survey received more participation than in previous years. The previous count was at 893 companies, this year the linst went up to more than 1,000. Even with the added companies, though, Chrysler still earned a place on the list.

This will be the eighth consecutive year that Chrysler has been on the annual list from Diversity Inc magazine. The auto maker has been a leader in diversity with long purchasing more than $50 billion from minority-owned companies as well as developing new programs to support and build a minority supply base.

“Chrysler Group remains as committed as ever to creating a diverse and sustainable supply base that directly reflects our customers,” said Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President of Purchasing & Supplier Quality at Chrysler Group LLC. “We will continue to create opportunities for minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses because we believe that a diverse supply chain leads to better, more innovative products for our customers.”

Chrysler Group One of the Top Workplaces in Michigan

The Detroit Free Press has announced that the list for their fifth annual “Top Workplaces in the State of Michigan” is out and Chrysler has made the cut.

The way the process works in being included on the list began in June 2012 when about 300 employees nominated the company via a survey.  Chrysler was ranked number 21 in the large employer category, which is where companies have 500 workers or more.  That’s out of the 237 companies that reside in Michigan that were also surveyed.

Not only that, but the CEO of Chrysler, Sergio Marchionne also got a special mention.  He is on the list of “Top Workplaces Standouts” for Leadership.  That’s for the employers who ranked high in not only meeting but also exceeding the expectations of their employees.

“We are honored and humbled to receive such a meaningful acknowledgement from our employees, validating that Chrysler Group is, indeed, an employer of choice,” said Nancy A. Rae, the Senior VP, Human Resources, at Chrysler Group.  “”Chrysler Group is committed to providing and sustaining a workplace environment where employees can thrive and achieve world class levels of performance, innovation, and success.”

To someone who has been following the business of Chrysler of late, it doesn’t come as a surprise that they are popular with employees.  They have been returning jobs to the plants as demand for their products increase and have earned numerous awards for their progressive practices including recognition from the HRC and Diversity Inc.

Chrysler Group Honored as a Top Supporter of Engineer Programs

Chrysler Group has a great history of being regarded as humanitarian contributors and was just recently awarded a perfect score by the HRC.  The editors of Diversity Inc magazine honored Chrysler Group on their 2011 list of “Top 50 Companies for Diversity.”  Working Mother magazine has been named as one of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” 12 times.  Even Hispanic Business magazine has praised the company for having strategies to reach out to more Hispanic customers and business.

Today another group came together to give Chrysler Group another prestigious honor.  The deans of 14 accredited Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the Advancing Minorities Interest in Engineering (AMIE) have named Chrysler Group as a Top Supporter of engineering programs across the nation’s HBCUs and minority serving institutions.  This marks the second consecutive year that Chrysler has been placed on this list.

“Chrysler Group is proud to be recognized as a leader in the developing and recruiting diverse talent with world-class technical skills in science, technology, engineering and math,” said Nancy A. Rae, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Chrysler Group LLC. “Our relationships with the nation’s minority-serving institutions are an invaluable asset in our ability to secure the diverse talent we need to sustain our success and compete in the global marketplace.”

There are plans for a dinner to be held in recognition of the Top Supporters.  Chrysler Group is also going to be saluted in the US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine in the upcoming Dean’s Edition.

This honor goes far in making sure that Chrysler gets recognized for its contributions to diversity.  Time and time again, the company has reached out to embrace all people regardless of sex, color, or sexual orientation.
