Chrysler 200 About to Get New Look

exterior_04The Chrysler 200 has been needing some new life of late. It’s been getting overshadowed by the 300 and Town & Country. With all the updates being passed around to other members of the family, it’s time for the 200 to get a new look.

Autoblog is reporting that the Chrysler 200 is getting phased out by next year. Chrysler is giving the 200 a short year in 2014 to make way for the successor. Internal documents show that production of that 2014 model will begin this summer and only run through January.

Sadly, these same documents don’t make any hints as to what to expect next. Autoblog writer Zach Bowman has some early speculation that the changes being made will “bleed into the automaker’s other products.” A rumor points to a possible nine-speed automatic transmission with 38 miles per gallon.

Makes me wonder if the 200 will be getting the same kind of face-lift that the Cherokee just got. If it does, how are the fans going to react? It’ll be interesting, to say the least, at what Chrysler has in store to help people fall in love with the 200 all over again.

New Chrysler Mini-Van Will Feature 9 Speed Transmission

ext1The future is upon us and Chrysler is gearing up to meet it head on.  The current course is that they will be released a new minivan in the time frame of 2015.  One of the features expected to be included in the design is a new part of the powertrain.  That would be a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The reasoning behind this is that car-makers are following the trend that consumers want more for less.  The more in this case is driving, the less being less gas to make that happen.  Another part of this decision is that regulations are becoming stricter.

So Chrysler is getting ready to deal with these new changes.  Back in 2011, Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Chrysler, paid a visit to the Windsor Assembly Plant, where the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country are made.  While he was there, he remarked that the nine-speed transmission will be in the next generation van.  Recently, he even said that the same gearbox will be added to the Dodge Dart to make it more appealing to consumers.

Chrysler is making strong strides into predicting what the car of the future is going to be.  The smart gamble will always be on the one that costs the customer less at the pump.

Five Chrysler Vehicles are the Best Buys of 2013

Consumer Guide Automotive has put out the list of its ‘Best Buys’ for 2013. On that list not once, not twice, but fie times, is Chrysler. Five vehicles in the Chrysler family have earned a spot on this prestigious list.

ABC12 has the breakdown of which cars the editors with Consumer Guide Automotive recommend for you to drive. In the category of ‘Best Minivan,’ there’s the Dodge Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town & Country. ‘Midsize Crossover’ goes to the Dodge Journey. For’ Large Pickup Truck,’ there’s the Ram 1500. Lastly, the ‘Large Crossover’ is the Dodge Durango.

Every year for this list to be put together, the editors evaluate numerous vehicles by giving them rigorous test drives. There are 19 categories that are test overall. Whichever ones they find that fit the needs of the consumer are given the ‘Best Buy’ accolade.

Chrysler, as a whole, gained the respect of the editors. “The Chrysler Group turnaround has been a treat to watch,” Says Tom Appel, publisher. In a few short years the company has made revolutionary gains in terms of drivetrain sophistication and materials, and assembly quality. Chrysler really feels like an all new entity.”
