Chrysler had a surprise for the attendees of the International Auto Show.  People were expecting to see a new Jeep, maybe even a new sedan, but definitely not this.  A homage paid to the history of the car maker in a fun way.

The Chrysler 300S Turbine is being made as a tribute to the classic and infamous 1963 turbine-powered concept car.  This new concept sports the same bronze color as its predecessor of 1963.  The front of the vehicle has a unique upper and lower machined-billet grille that also call back to the old model.  The headlamps are also a blast from the past with the Chrysler 300S’s Gloss Black headlamp bezels.

The wheels even have a unique styling to them to bring back fond memories.  A massive 22 inches in diameter in a turbine shaped design.

Saad Chehab was a huge fan of the color used in the vehicle.  He loved it the moment he saw it in the design center and is hoping to take numerous elements of the Chrysler 300S Turbine and put it into future S versions of the brand’s vehicles.

Chrysler Sales Best Since 2007

ID-1001273262012 turned out to be a stellar year for Chrysler. They managed to cap off a strong year with sales going up 21 percent for the year as a whole. That makes it the strongest year they’ve had since 2007.

Chrysler beat out the rest of the US auto industry in terms of increases made. It’s clear from the upward sales trend that consumers were out in force the previous year to replace their old vehicles. December alone was 10 percent higher. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram trucks, and Chrysler 300 were the stars of the success. Chrysler also made not that last month’s sales were the strongest month of the entire year.

There are many reasons for such a turn around in sales. One is that unemployment has been steadily decreasing over the year. Another is that the average age of a car is around 11 years. Thanks to banks making it easier to get a low interest rate on their loan, people have been finding it cheaper to just purchase a new vehicle rather than repair an older one.

Here’s to a 2013 that’s even better. Check out our Chrysler inventory online at Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Make sure you also like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for more news and specials.

Chrysler Responds to Resintated Workers

A news story about the dismissal of 13 auto works at a Chrysler plant in Detroit from two years ago has everyone talking again.

Many will remember the story from back in 2010 of a video showing off duty assembly line workers drinking and smoking pot while on their breaks.  Chrysler responded with outrage at the incident, firing the said 13 workers.  That’s where the story should’ve ended, but this week the workers are back in the plant at their previous jobs.  Chrysler is not happy about it either.

The United Auto Workers (UAW) filed grievances for the workers that were terminated due to the video.  A third-party arbitrator ruled on the side of the union and had their jobs reinstated.  Chrysler has released a statement saying that they do not agree with the decision that was made with the arbitrator but will respect that procedure was followed.
