Get Ready for an All-New Look to the Chrysler 200

exterior_04Chrysler is doing some spring-cleaning.  Of late, they’ve been really pushing change onto their upcoming vehicles.  Take a look at the 2014 Jeep Cherokee and you’ll see just how invested they are in in keeping their vehicles competitive.  Change is never a bad thing.

That same mindset is bringing change to lesser heard about car in their fleet, the Chrysler 200.  In 2011, the Sebring was given the 200 label and, while gaining a boost in sales, never achieved the popularity the auto-maker felt it deserved.

That means its back to the drawing board to see what needs to be done to make the 200 a name in the midsize sedan segment with the 2015 model.

Automobile reports on concepts of the new 200 being shown to attendees of the annual dealer meeting this last October.  What they saw must’ve been quite impressive because it brought the people to their feet.  They quote David Kelleher, who is the owner of a Chrysler Dealership in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania on what he thought of the new 200.  He said it would be a “complete home run.”

Saad Chehab, President and CEO of Chrysler Brand, set the bar high for what he expects from the 200’s new design.  “…if any of us walk into a room and look at the car, is my jaw going to drop?”

The article continues to note that the 200 is being heavily influenced by the competition, such as the 2013 Ford Fusion, 2011 Hyundai Sonata, and the Kia Optima.

There’s no real word on any definite details on what it’ll look like or what the tech specs are, but there’s a belief that it’ll be a variation of the CUSW platform that is already in use with the Dodge Dart and the upcoming 2014 Jeep Cherokee.  The new 200 may be unveiled this fall and be on the sales floor as early as January of 2014.
