Chrysler Gives Back to Detroit with Life Remodeled Project

Most news that comes from Chrysler comes in the form of what new car are they working on, how much horsepower it will have, etc etc.  Chrysler is also notable for their charity work and this week joined together with the community of Detroit to participate in the Life Remodeled Project.

Over 400 employees from the Chrysler Group, along with workers from GM, came together to help with a project put together by the Chris Lambert, the found and president of Life Remodeled.  Thanks to the support of numerous organizations, including companies such as Chrysler and various nonprofits and churches, the Life Remodeled was about to aid Detroit’s Cody High School.

The project was able to clear 304 blocks in the Cody-Rouge area of debris.  The volunteers also boarded up hundreds of homes that were vacant, tear down two homes damaged by fires, and work on remodeling the Cody High School by working on issues big and small.  The school is getting a new roof, a new football field and will have new science and engineering labs installed for he students.

Chrysler’s contribution to the project included 10 vehicles, a thousand flowers and plants, and $12,000 to help rebuild a two-mile road.

Chrysler has been known to consistently contribute to the growth and maintenance of Detroit.  This is just another in a long line of ways they’ve given back to the community that has helped them so much.

Chrysler, Jeep Sales Strong for July

overview_21

July was another strong month for the rebounding automaker.  Chrysler enjoyed strong sales through the month with Jeep having one of its strongest months ever.

July was a strong month for the industry as a whole.  At the current sales rate the industry is enjoying, it will be the best year since 2006 according to Bloomberg News.

“The on-again, off-again relationship is back on and the love affair goes on,” Jeff Schuster, an analyst with LMC is quoted as saying.  “It shows consumers are feeling good about the position of the economy.  Combine that with some new products and relatively low fuel prices and the magic takes over.

Jeep was not the only member of the Chrysler family to enjoy July’s sales.  The Town and Country’s sales were up by 41 percent with the best July the minivan has had since 2006.

Many factors go into what could cause such a successfully month.  The ones that Bloomberg credits the most is there being more available credit options for subprime borrowers along with lower interest rates.

Fred Diaz, Nissan’s senior VP of North American sales sees another good reason why auto sales are up.  “The reason I say that is the pent-up demand and the age of the average vehicle on the road today is still over 11 years old.  That’s going to keep us primed for moderate, steady or slow growth.

2015 Chrysler 200: New Era for Chrysler

10

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is popular with fans and critics alike.  It is being produced in a way to let other companies know that Chrysler is back in business and wants to begin making major splashes in the auto world.  To do this, however, sacrifices are being made.  Chrysler’s new five-year plan is calling for a new evaluation of the many brands.  While it was announced before the plan, the new 200 is taking the place of the well-known Dodge Avenger in the mid-sized sedan market.  Is this going to help or hurt Chrysler?

Mlive.com spoke with Al Gardner about the 2015 Chrysler 200.  He is the CEO and President of the brand and had a major hand in the creation of the new 200.  He is very confident that the loss of the Avenger will only help the new 200 grow in popularity and sales.  “We’ve got pretty high expectations.  As Avenger and 200 go away, the old ones, this thing is going to sell in this huge segment.”

From the perspective of Gardner, the 2015 200 represents a new era for Chrysler.  The campaign for this re-launch began before 200, however.  It started in January with the tagline being introduced for Chrysler, “America’s Import” which was reiterated by Bob Dylan in a Super Bowl commercial.

The 200 itself has relied on being a part of the same marketing campaign.  The commercial is centered on the story of creation from a nation of builders, highlighting that each and all of us have the capability to be a part of the next great innovation of invention.

The entire article about the history and what is to come from Chrysler as they look to future is fascinating.  The 2015 Chrysler 200 is the beginning of something big.  Chrysler is poised to become something bigger than it ever was.
