Chrysler Sales Up 3 Percent in July

Now the July is over and done with, it’s that time we looked back and see just how the numbers for the month was. I have run out of ways to repeat myself in wondering how long the streak that Chrysler has been enjoying will last, and I’ve also run out of ways to say not yet.

Chrysler is now posting that they had their 28th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. That is a 13 percent increase for the month of July. To break it down even further, the Chrysler 200 was the top seller with an increase of 43 percent. Town & Country also did very well with a 25 percent year-over-year increase and the 300 got a 41 percent increase of sales.

Some big news for the month comes from the Dodge side of sales. Dodge itself had modest sales gains, but one little nugget comes from that. Long teased, much hyped, the Dodge Dart had 772 sales in the month. It might seem like a low number, but it’s due to a very limited release with the full production nowhere near peak levels yet. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when it is truly unleashed.

Jeep and Ram brand also found themselves showing positive gains. The overall take away from the Chrysler side of sales is that they are still managing to be positive in an otherwise slow and weak economy. The book has yet to be written on when this trend goes away, but for the moment, Chrysler is doing very well for itself.

Chrysler Ranked Top 10 Car Brand of 2012

Total Car Score has released its list of the top 10 car brands of 2012, and this year, Chrysler beat out BMW and Kia to earn the #8 spot on the list.

The list’s rankings were based purely on reviews and performance. Total Car Score, also known as the Rotten Tomatoes of car review sites, collects reviews from the most trusted car critics including Consumer Reports, Edmunds, The Car Connection, and MSN Autos, and they calculate a composite score based on those reviews. Chrysler made the top 10 list right alongside other top-of-the-line brands like Infiniti, Mercedes-Bez, and Lexus.

For Chrysler, this is an amazing accomplishment. They are the second most improved brand on the list with an overall score of 79.78 and 3.71 point improvement from 2011. Only a short time ago, some people had counted Chrysler out, and yet here it is on the top 10 brands of 2012. Chrysler’s comeback continues, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

May Sales Numbers Break Five-Year Record

In Chrysler’s now-famous 2012 Super Bowl ad, Clint Eastwood says, “It’s halftime, America, and our second half is about to begin.” According to the latest sales numbers, Chrysler is taking that to heart and winning big in its “second half.”

Comparing May 2011 to May 2012, Chrysler had a 30 percent sales jump, leading to the best sales numbers for Chrysler in five years. In that month alone, Chrysler sold 150,000 models and blew away their domestic and international competition. General Motors had an 11 percent sales increase, and Ford had a 13 percent increase. While Toyota also posted an enormous sales increase of 87 percent, that is expected considering that their production was affected by the earthquake in Japan.

Chrysler should be proud of the sales they have earned so far this year. To see these numbers so early on in the year is fantastic, and the Dodge Dart, their big car of 2012, hasn’t even been released yet. They might have broken their five-year sales record in May, but I don’t think it will be too long before that record is broken again.
