When anyone is looking for a rumor to present, trademark filings are a very good place to start. For many things, vehicles included, this is a first sign of what might be coming down the pipeline for a new car. Autoblog did some investigating into a recent trademark that Chrysler filed. It turns out that Chrysler has gone back into their past again for a possible name for a possible new vehicle to come, the “Rebel.”

This is not something unheard of. The examples that the article chooses to highlight to show how much this has been done already in the past is with Lamborghini and Chevrolet. Both automakers trademarked vehicle names prior to announcing the actual vehicles. With Chrysler filing for the name of “Rebel” it can have multiple implications. First, it could simply to protect it. While no plans might be on the agenda, it is a valuable name with history to the company and they may wish to make sure no one else uses it. The second is that it could follow the nostalgic path that Chrysler has been on with its vehicles and using an older name to provide an update.

The Rebel was an old American Motor Corporation model of muscle cars. Back in 1987, Chrysler bought out AMC, bringing the Rebel with the purchase.

No official announcement has been made of any kind, so there’s no clue as to what this filing means. It could be nothing, or it could be for any current vehicle under the Chrysler name. Rebel is a versatile name that can hold strong on its own or attached to any popular model. Only time will tell on this one.

Chrysler Group LLC has made the list of “25 Most Noteworthy Companies for Diversity” in the pages of Diversity Inc magazine. This is the annual list the magazine’s editors compiled of companies they believe are diversity-management leaders.

The selection process begins with an annual survey administered in 2013. This year’s survey received more participation than in previous years. The previous count was at 893 companies, this year the linst went up to more than 1,000. Even with the added companies, though, Chrysler still earned a place on the list.

This will be the eighth consecutive year that Chrysler has been on the annual list from Diversity Inc magazine. The auto maker has been a leader in diversity with long purchasing more than $50 billion from minority-owned companies as well as developing new programs to support and build a minority supply base.

“Chrysler Group remains as committed as ever to creating a diverse and sustainable supply base that directly reflects our customers,” said Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President of Purchasing & Supplier Quality at Chrysler Group LLC. “We will continue to create opportunities for minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses because we believe that a diverse supply chain leads to better, more innovative products for our customers.”

Chrysler Group CEO to Dedicate Tipton Transmission Plant

chryslerChrysler Group has announced that next month, Sergio Marchionne will be in Tipton, Indiana to dedicate the new Tipton Transmission Plant.

Back in February last year, Chrysler Group acquired the facility and invested $162 million in the plant for assembling the nine-speed transmission. This investment was expected to create an estimated 850 jobs.

In the past few years, Chrysler Group has continued investing in American facilities and American jobs, and in 2014, their investments have been seeing fantastic results. Back in March, Chrysler celebrated the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant adding 800 new jobs to keep up with production on the 2015 Chrysler 200. Before that, demand for the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee was so high that the Jeep plant in Toledo hired approximately 1,000 new part-time employees.

With Chrysler Group sales still on the rise, it wouldn’t be surprising if other plants announce plans for more new hires in the next few months, particularly with summer only a few months away.
