Eminem, Eastwood, And Detroit: A Look Back At Chrysler’s Best Super Bowl Ads

Chrysler Super Bowl Eminem

Chrysler is going all out for Super Bowl XLIX, premiering not one but three new Chrysler ads during the broadcast. They are keeping the commercials tightly under wraps for Sunday’s game, but for now, let’s take a look back at the big Chrysler Super Bowl commercials of the past five years.

“Man’s Last Stand” – 2010

Chrysler’s big Super Bowl spot was “Man’s Last Stand” which specifically featured the Dodge Charger. This is more humorous than the subsequent Chrysler ads, and the best line is easily, “I will watch your vampire TV shows with you.”

“Born Of Fire” – 2011

“Born Of Fire” came out of the gate in 2011 and took the ad world by storm, winning numerous awards and accolades. More importantly, though, it was a powerful reflection of Chrysler and Detroit defying the odds and finding a comeback.

“Halftime In America” – 2012

When Chrysler gets a star to narrate their Super Bowl ads, they only get the best. Clint Eastwood’s “Halftime In America” is a Super Bowl classic.

“Farmer” – 2013

This love letter to the American farmer featured some absolutely gorgeous shots of the heartland and Ram’s powerful trucks in action. “Farmer” captured audiences’ attentions without talking animals, sexualized imagery, or childish humor usually found in Super Bowl commercials.

“America’s Import” 2014

“America’s Import” asked the question, “Is there anything more American than America?” Bob Dylan’s narration combined with the imagery of diners, Marilyn Monroe, biker gangs, and Chrysler employees hard at work was unforgettable.

Chrysler Has a “Stunning” November

November was a good month for Chrysler.  That’s been the headline for a while now.  Every month is a look at just how excellent Chrysler did.  Ever since the company has come back from the brink of bankruptcy, they’ve been making tremendous gains.  This last November is no different.  What is most interesting, however, about their sales in November is how it compares to the rest of the industry.

Larry P. Vellequette opens his piece on Autonews with one simple word to describe Chrysler’s November and that is “Stunning.”  Chrysler had a 20-percent increase in sales last month.  That’s not all, there’s even more stunning numbers.

Last month, 57,466 new vehicles were sold in the US.  Of that number, 50.2 percent were sold at a Chrysler dealership.

Chrysler had 11 of their vehicles across the span of their line-ups set record sales.

Chrysler clearly has a fire behind it at the moment.  They’ve been pushing the advantage and with new vehicles like the 2015 Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee on the market the automaker is making tremendous gains.  Here’s hoping they can keep it up.

2015 Chrysler 200 Sales Exceeding Expectations

2015 Chrysler 200 - Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge - 01

The 2015 Chrysler 200 was already one of the most anticipated vehicles of the year.  Chrysler wasn’t reinventing the wheel, but they were taking a model that had been regarded as nothing more than car rental fodder for the past few years and made it exciting for the general public again.  It also showed them mounting competition towards their rival car makers in a way that the auto maker has not been in recent years.  So the question is after that how well is the company doing with the new 2015 200.  The answer is would seem is quite well.  According to Chrysler, the new 200 is selling very well.

WardsAuto spoke with Al Gardner, the president and CEO of Chrysler, and they were informed of how the 2015 Chrysler 200 is exceeding expectations.  The way to succeed, it would seem, would be to mount a complete offensive on the competitors.

“We knew we had to conquest, because frankly we don’t have a customer base.  We look at the (now defunct Dodge) Avenger and 200 as the previous cars to this new 200, and this new 200 is much better.  We had to conquest.” Gardner said to WardsAuto.

Like I said, the biggest problem with the 200 is that the vehicle had fallen out of the public view.  It wasn’t a car in large demand and it is good to see Chrysler realize this and work from that point of view rather than trying to build on something that wasn’t there.  Introducing the 2015 Chrysler 200 as a new and as an evolution is a smart move.
