2013 Chrysler Town & Country S: Making Minivans Cool

There’s a stereotype attached to the modern mini-van. The chariot of soccer moms and fathers who sold their dreams of sports car in exchange for something practical to drive the kids to school in. I’ve never been one to buy into that philosophy of labeling a minivan as uncool. That definitely has nothing to do with me having to drive my family’s minivan to school my senor year because my older brother took the coupe to college. Chrysler doesn’t think that either.

The new 2013 Chrysler Town and Country S model will be debuted at the 2012 Los Angeles International Auto Show. The “S” model is a family of Chrysler vehicles that are about giving top model looks for the exterior and interior. The Town and County is about showing the versatility in a minivan.

The color choices to show off in range from ‘Brilliant Black’ to ‘Deep Cherry Red.’ The infamous grille comes in black chrome along with black-background Chrysler Winged badges front and rear. The 17-inch aluminum wheels have a polished face and black-painted pockets. All combine to give a sleek and sexy look to what would otherwise been seen as the opposite.

All joking aside, minivans are seen as family vehicles for a reason. That’s why the Town and Country S will come equipped with performance suspension. That adds a great level of handling to the driver. Just a way Chrysler is bringing safety and comfort together when driving.

There’s plenty of more features Chrysler is adding to make sure your family is both protected and safe. The dual screen Blu-Ray system will be a hit with the kids, allowing both the rear seat passengers to watch HD movies on the go. You can even plug in your Xbox or Playstation in to really encourage road trips.

Chrysler Group One of the Top Workplaces in Michigan

The Detroit Free Press has announced that the list for their fifth annual “Top Workplaces in the State of Michigan” is out and Chrysler has made the cut.

The way the process works in being included on the list began in June 2012 when about 300 employees nominated the company via a survey.  Chrysler was ranked number 21 in the large employer category, which is where companies have 500 workers or more.  That’s out of the 237 companies that reside in Michigan that were also surveyed.

Not only that, but the CEO of Chrysler, Sergio Marchionne also got a special mention.  He is on the list of “Top Workplaces Standouts” for Leadership.  That’s for the employers who ranked high in not only meeting but also exceeding the expectations of their employees.

“We are honored and humbled to receive such a meaningful acknowledgement from our employees, validating that Chrysler Group is, indeed, an employer of choice,” said Nancy A. Rae, the Senior VP, Human Resources, at Chrysler Group.  “”Chrysler Group is committed to providing and sustaining a workplace environment where employees can thrive and achieve world class levels of performance, innovation, and success.”

To someone who has been following the business of Chrysler of late, it doesn’t come as a surprise that they are popular with employees.  They have been returning jobs to the plants as demand for their products increase and have earned numerous awards for their progressive practices including recognition from the HRC and Diversity Inc.

Chrysler Adds More Jobs for Increase in Truck Sales

Chrysler will be adding more jobs at a Ram pickup plant outside of Detroit. Thanks to a predicted upswing in sales due to the housing market seeing a rebound, Chrysler is anticipating truck sales to encounter a surge in sales.

Not too long ago, this story would’ve seemed like fantasy with both the housing market in the tank and the auto industry in a fast downward spiral. Chrysler has been turning it around, adding more and more jobs to Detroit. This will add 1,000 new jobs with the addition of a third shift to meet the rising demand. Another 250 jobs are planned to be added later down the road in 2014 at a Detroit engine plant.

Home construction is going through the best pace it’s had in four years. September was a huge victory for a business that’s been suffering for so long. Housing and truck purchasing have always had a symbiotic relationship. Another reason Chrysler is predicting a bump up in truck sales is due to the fact that the average truck is now 10 years old. Time to get into a new truck with that kind of age.
